3. W.I.H.E. Festival: Dis-Member - Theodor di Ricco - Berlin, Germany

Theodor di Ricco - Dis-Member

Berlin 2019

It started off with a slap in the face, after three years we have slapped ourselves silly. Dante would have certainly included this inferno into one of his circles … a reality show that cannot be turned off and where several of the characters have torrents syndrome and frequently and randomly shout out. „Brexit … Brexit!“

Three years ago when this fiasco started, I jokingly addressed my letters to Carol with ‚Little England‘. In the meantime, Carol has almost lost her arm, her leg and a little finger.  Dave the dog, almost lost his leg and Britain is about to throw the baby out with the bath water.

I cried when I lost me teeth to parandatosis.  I shed a tear of disbelief when I found out the result of the U.K. referendum.  Soon after, I realized that my face was stinging and the pain made me shed tears of dis-membership.

It has gotten bad.  Million of inhabitants in four countries of the U.K. are suffering from traumatic syndrome relating to Brexit; depression, water gain, gout.  The lies, the 315 million that the national health service would have gotten, has now turned into the 315 billion when the U.K. leaves the European Union.  As with a country that was at war, it will take generations to collectively work out this trauma.

Being sanguine is California Thinking, of which I prescribe by birth.  Similar to Hollywood, I call it out and provoke by embellishing.  Change priorities ahead. The economist are to blame for the lies.  They should have never been let out of the basement of the government buildings in which they worked.  All they think about is the bottom line and they simply equate the human element as the variable ‚XY?‘. Seen on Facebook, Twitter or What’s App, so it must be true.  Is there something beyond ‚fake‘?

The world is watching and wondering why does it take so goddamn bloody long for something to get done in this country. By the time the decision has fallen everybody has had their say in the matter; the result, the U.K. electrical socket. I get so frustrated. Frustration, and its sleepy relative apathy, should be included as predominate English characteristics.

I have experienced this political situation before 30 years ago before the fall of the Berliner Wall. As with the Berlin, the English Wall took years of protests and non-compliance to the status quo to arrive at this point.

Starting from Margret screaming, „I want my money back,“ to David’s referendum to Boris’ sending parliament home. We are at a turning point in history which will have a rippling effect throughout the world. Will a united kingdom dismember itself? Probably. Do not know how, do not know when, but I am sure it will be a sunny day.

New countries will emerge from previously forgotten regions. The European Union will absorb these new countries and will lead the way for others within the E.U. to do the same; Catalonia, Kosovo, Cyprus, Bavaria.

No. Ireland will re-memeber itself to the Republic under a Front- Go instead of a Back-Stop deal. This was certainly the subtil plan of the Good-Friday-Agreement and the beauty of the European Union.

England will get its special status similar to Norway and Switzerland and we Europeans can finally turn off this inferno of a reality show and tune into the fall line-up.
This season’s show is entitled, ‚Enough is Enough‘. The far right did not do well in the elections to the European Parlament, the green party did. Erdogan has lost Istanbul. Trump has lost the house of Representatives in the U.S. Duterte of the Philippines is being persuaded by the International Criminal court.. Orbán’s Fidesz Party in Hungary has been realigned from center to the far right in the European Parliament. Netanyahu of Israel has lost. The house of cards build on their lies are crumbling.

Maybe it was good to have despots ruling things for a while and yes, there are those who still need to be checked, Bolzano in Brazil and prince Bin Salman of Saudia Arabia.

It makes democracy real again. Instead of relaxing on our laurels of battles won we once again have to go and march on the streets to preserve this rights.

In the three years since there U.K. referendum millions of old farts have died and millions of new voters have arrived at the polling box  The are disgusted by the lack of action by the current politicians, only giving lip service to ‚our children‘ yet doing little sustain the planet on which they will live.  If I was under 18 like Greta Thurberg, I would be scared also.

I would like to teach the would to sing in perfect harmony because that would be the end of history and I could write about the beautiful things of life.
